The Malaq Maye Institute is a newly established center dedicated to tackling key policy challenges and enhancing community engagement in both Canada and Africa, particularly focusing on the Horn of Africa. Through a comprehensive approach that encompasses research projects, initiatives, podcasts, and publications, the Institute acts as a platform for collaborative thinking and solutions-driven dialogue. Our mission is to influence informed policy decisions and empower communities by offering actionable insights and knowledge, particularly in areas such as marine policy research.
The MALAQ MAYE GROUP OF COOPERATIVES represents a multi-service cooperative enterprise model in Somalia, involving the Marine Institute Somalia and services related to education, seafood, and marine resource development. This includes sustainable fishing and aquaculture practices, construction projects like ports and lighthouses, and investments in marine real estate and industrial development. The cooperative consortium is a blend of social entrepreneurs, investors, professionals, engineers, architects, urban planners, and agrarians, all focused on promoting investment opportunities to benefit the Somali Fishing Community and create jobs through reconstruction and rebuilding efforts in Somalia.
